Dragos Roua ("we," "our," or "us") operates the Zen Tales mobile application (the "App"). This privacy policy explains what information we collect and how we use it.

Information We Collect

When You Use AI Reflections

When you use the AI reflection feature, we collect:

  • A random device identifier to track your credit balance
  • Your IP address for abuse prevention
  • The text of your questions (sent to our AI provider to generate responses)

When You Make Purchases

When you purchase credits or unlock premium features, Apple sends us a transaction receipt to verify the purchase. This receipt contains a transaction ID — it does not include your name, Apple ID, or payment details.

What Stays on Your Device

The following data is stored only on your device and never sent to us:

  • Reading progress and completed stories
  • Saved reflection conversations
  • App preferences

How We Use Your Information

We use collected information to:

  • Provide AI-powered reflection responses
  • Track your credit balance
  • Verify purchases are genuine
  • Prevent abuse of the service

We do not:

  • Sell your data
  • Use your data for advertising
  • Track you across apps or websites
  • Collect your name, email, or contact information

Third-Party Services

  • Anthropic (Claude API): Your reflection questions are sent to Anthropic to generate AI responses. See Anthropic's Privacy Policy.
  • Apple: Purchases are processed by Apple. We do not receive your payment information.

Data Retention

  • Device identifiers and credit balances are retained while your account has credits
  • IP-based abuse prevention data is automatically deleted within days
  • On-device data persists until you uninstall the App

Your Rights

You can:

  • Delete on-device data by uninstalling the App
  • Request deletion of server-side data by contacting us
  • Stop all data collection by not using the AI reflection feature

If you are in the EEA, you have additional rights under GDPR including access, rectification, and portability.

Children's Privacy

The App does not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
